Samsung galaxy and note series has known problem of faulty charging port. Now samsung a series has same problem. Samsung galaxy series phones like samsung s3, samsung s4, samsung s5 has tiny connectors on the charging port which are soldered to the logic board. Charging port on a3 is underfill, stronggly soldered on the logic board, and it is more difficult because on the other side of the charging port there is home button mechanism and very fragile lcd. You have to be very careful applying the heat or using the soldering iron. Any excessive heat or push can damage the lcd. Once charging port is taken out rest is bit easy. But still this is not recommended for a DIY repair. You can see in the picture the two big holes will hold the charging port firmly. Be very careful inserting the charging cable on samsung phones the small pins inside the charging port are pretty fragile.
